May i welcome plans to reopen the rail line to Tavistock. I have long argued that we need an inland bypass for the coastal stretch of the main line through Teignmouth and that this should be the ex- Southern route from Exeter to Plymouth via Okehampton and Tavistock; of course, the proposed re-opening is part of that route.

But may I make a suggestion, as doubts have been expressed about the viability of the route and whether it would be an asset for Tavistock.
