The Cross Party Democracy Movement succeeded the late Sir James Goldsmith's Referendum Party after the 1997 General Election and I have subscribed to it and supported it ever since.

It has informed its members that Tony Blair has pledged to pay pounds42,000,000,000 to the European Union over the next seven years, and that is after the rebate we will receive back. My back- of-an-envelope calculation shows this sum to be the equivalent of pounds16,438,000 every day of the year - an increase of more than 60 per cent after he allowed the EU to claw back some of the hard won rebate secured by Margaret Thatcher.
