AN ANCIENT hand tin-crushing site which was unearthed at Cornwall's Poldark Mine has been granted ancient monument status.
The extremely rare "mortar outcrop" - a granite slab with at least 17 circular or oval-shaped hollows worn into the surface - proves that tin was crushed by hand in Cornwall long before the invention of machinery in the Medieval period.See the full content of this document
