Like many others, this household has just been subject to those twin seasonal outings, the primary school nativity/Christmas play, and the local amateur panto.
Venturing out to the school play was a bit hairy, as on the evening of my being volunteered, the roads were slicked with a glistening jacket of black ice. But parental duties are not to be shirked, so off we set. The scene, on arrival, was one that must be familiar to any parent. Mums dads and grannies perched atop kiddies' chairs, with the heating turned so far up you're soon shedding those winter layers. Older brothers and sisters, now at big school, fidget at the back, waiting to poke their tongues out at younger siblings.See the full content of this document
