There is much to be said for letting private enterprise take responsibility for providing for visitors who holiday in the Westcountry. They are, after all, the experts and it is private business that has most to gain from tourist spending.
But there is an important role for publicly funded bodies in marketing Britain as a destination for foreign visitors and encouraging visitors to come to the Westcountry as part of a holiday here.
