I've been on a nice long drive in the country. Not that I enjoyed it quite as much as you might assume.

During harvest frenzy the week before last, with clouds towering, I took an early morning call from a pal. He was away out on the Forest, having slipped up over early, to fetch in a flock of sheep. Time to wean the lambs and start fettling the ewes for autumn.

Now this fella's ewes graze in the same area as my Galloways, and he'd phoned to say he stumbled on a dead cow of mine. "Bother", we agreed. He knew how much grass I had down, having similar issues himself.
