Summary

A high level of involvement in public sector developments has helped to boost the fortunes of Westcountry architects Stride Treglown. Its prominence in this arena was one of the major factors that brought it to the judges' attention in the Michelmores and Western Morning News Commercial Property Awards. As a result the company received the newly named John Laurence Award for Professional Firm of the Year, in honour of former judge John, who died last year.

Stride Treglown's entry in the competition marked its involvement in a number of landmark schemes during 2009. Not least of these was the Bodmin Police Strategic Hub, which was shortlisted for two awards in its own right and also elevated its project manager into a winning position. Also during 2009, working for the Ministry of Defence, the practice designed new offices for the Royal Marine Commandos at Lympstone in Devon.
