Summary
The Provost of the University of Exeter's Cornwall Campus has taken steps to reduce his carbon footprint. Professor Matthew Evans of the university's Tremough Campus in Penryn, has off-set the six tonnes of carbon emissions that have resulted from his business travel in the last six months. Using a specialist company, Professor Evans estimated that he had produced six tonnes of carbon over the last year through business travel, including flying to South Africa to lead a biology field trip. He then paid a fee to the company, which organises projects to reduce carbon emissions. These include developing fuel-efficient cooking stoves in Uganda, rainforest restoration projects and a programme to install efficient lamps for schools in Kazakhstan.
More than 130 young rugby players from six primary schools in St Austell will be taking part in a Tag Rugby Festival at Tregorrick Park today. The teams will compete in the festival, which has been organised by Emma Wells from the Poltair School Sports Partnership. The top four will go on to compete in a further festival organised by Devon and Cornwall Police later in the year. The winning teams will be presented with certificates by representatives of the Cornish Pirates team.See the full content of this document
