THE family of a 10-year-old boy killed in a hit-and-run accident last night described him as "an angel" and said their hearts were "broken".

Sean Hamilton, of York, pictured, was crossing a in the city on Saturday when he was hit by a blue Ford Transit van. He was treated by paramedics and then taken to York District Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His parents, Sharon and Ronnie, left a card at the scene where he died, which said: "God wanted an angel, and as usual you were at the front of the queue." North Yorkshire Police said the occupants of the van stopped, but then abandoned the vehicle and ran off.
