Summary


Some ten million people were swept up in the intrigue of TV drama Downton Abbey when it aired on ITV last autumn, writes Sarah Pitt. And the upstairs-downstairs shenanigans of the titled Crawley family and their servants were set off by specially designed costumes, authentic to the story's 1912 setting.

The craftmanship and exquisite needlework of each costume can be viewed up close at the Creative Stitches and Hobbycrafts show near Exeter later this month, when the costumes go on display in advance of the series returning to our screens this autumn.
