Vet Manager Accused of Pounds 400,000 Theft

Summary

A woman will appear before magistrates accused of stealing almost Pounds 400,000 from a veterinary surgery where she worked. Della Barbour, aged 49, was employed as the practice manager at Elm Veterinary Group, which has practices in Outland Road in Milehouse, Plymouth, and Horncross Road in Plymstock. She was initially arrested in January on suspicion of stealing about Pounds 60,000, but a lengthy investigation by detectives now suggest she is suspected of stealing Pounds 392,300 between January 2006 and December 2010. At the time, police said they carried out a search of her property.

It is understood the investigation saw detectives study hundreds of pieces of paperwork from the practice covering the period in question. Barbour, who lives in Yelverton, is believed to have worked at the firm in her role for about ten years.
