I WAS intrigued to read your article "Back garden development crackdown under way". I felt I had to ask how those communities blighted by the Government's previous decision to encourage local authorities to allow these so-called brownfield developments to go ahead, might be compensated.

My 200-year-old cottage in Trelights is now towered over by a new house that North Cornwall District Council, in the light of orders from Whitehall, allowed to be crammed into the garden of the next- door property.
