The wet and dismal view of a city street in George Hyde- Pownall's (1876-1932) oil on board in Bearnes Hampton & Littlewood's sale on Tuesday usually symbolises our winters. Not this year, however, as most experienced some of the coldest weather for generations. This makes the view of St Andrews Wells Street a welcome change, showing pavements and cobbles beneath both horse and pedestrians' feet.
This Australian artist has signed and inscribed his work with a title as well, that now expects Pounds 300-Pounds 500 on a 9.25 x 8.5in view, that could be almost anywhere, yet is only off Oxford Street in London.See the full content of this document
