Here in Winkleigh, we are lucky. There's a great little Londis shop that, considering its size, sells an astonishing range of goods. There's a post office that does everything a post office should do, and more, where they are helpful beyond the call of duty. We have the best butcher in the universe (though some believe Barry's not actually from this universe). We have eateries and drinkeries in abundance. You can buy petrol, you can buy a new set of tyres, you can buy granny a garden gnome. We have a cider factory and a taxi service (though they are not related). We even have a bank.
In fact, for a village, we have facilities that would put many towns to shame. But if you take one item away from the equation, you put the whole lot at risk.
