The Wadebridge Trial was moved from Davidstow to John Carter's trial field at Trethern.
Twenty dogs were judged in the Combined Maltese Cross and 29 dogs in the Combined Driving. The running was on recently shorn Mule shearlings, which as they where used through the nursery season, where easy to work. Mr Carter judged 11 Novice dogs and nine Open dogs in the Maltese Cross, with T Hopper taking the lead with Tweed by losing only six points to the cross and then two through the cross and one point each for the shed and pen, only to be beaten by G Watson with Mirk. He only lost five points to the cross and then one point through the cross and one at the shed, with a clean pen. Mr Hopper judged 13 Novice dogs and 16 Open dogs in the Combined Driving class. Mr Carter set the standard with the first run of the day, with his Novice dog Blue, by only losing eight points by the end of the fetch, and then two points for the driving section and two for the shed, but with a clean pen. He then challenged his own lead with Jill, by losing only four points to the driving - only to lose out by one point due to a few problems with the shed. Mr Watson, with the last run of the day with Hemp, won the trial by being on the same points by the end of the fetch, but let two sheep slip around the side of the cross drive gates. He made up for it by having a clean shed and pen to win by one point.See the full content of this document
