Never a slow news week, this. Even in the absence of wars, famine and revelations about the dodgy doings of the "friends" of MPs there are always a few old favourites to fill the column inches.
On Monday, for example, there was the chance to wring hands about the increasing Americanisation of trick or treating Halloween and coming up we have Guy Fawkes Night when the politically correct will question the wisdom of burning Roman Catholics and scaring the animals with fireworks.
