Summary
The steep field below the woods has sheep tracks running horizontally across it from years of use, and a gorse brake near the top. The gorse, furze or whin is beautifully in flower, with sun after a misty start to the day causing the golden flowers to glow.
I love gorse and broom as much as do green hairstreak butterflies. Today, though, it was a pair of linnets that attracted my attention. They are always here, linnets, and I have watched them for so many years, man and boy, that I wonder if it was their actual ancestors I saw here as a lad.
