Summary
The experience of the Pont Aven and the 40ft wave reminds me of crossing the Atlantic in February 1945 in a smaller ship than the ferry - SS Pasteur being, I believe, some 33,000 tons.
We were at lunch when it felt as if the ship had applied emergency brakes; the effect of an enormous wave that came right over the upper bridge. On going up to our cypher office we found the companionways awash and the screens on both bridges smashed.
