Summary
PETER Russell (July 10) is right to condemn nuclear weapons, but I'm afraid they are here to stay - or until something worse is invented.
It is all very well asking for total or even unilateral disarmament, but could you really trust every (or any) country to abide by it? Could we be assured that a country like North Korea or possibly Iran would disarm, or trust Russia or the USA not to attack each other or guarantee that Israel would not retaliate in kind if threatened with a nuclear device?
