The show, as they say, must go on. Unfortunately, the night before I meet The Krankies, who are appearing in a summer season "spectacular" at the Palace Theatre in Paignton, it didn't.

Because, for the first time in years - since 2004, in fact, when Janette, the female half of the comedy duo, fractured her skull falling off her pantomime beanstalk in Glasgow - a Krankies production has been cancelled.
