Summary
IN generations past it was commonplace for family and friends to gather for an evening's entertainment reading aloud a favourite play, each taking the role of a different character. That pastime has long been lost to the ritual of television watching, but it strikes me that Simon Parker's Gonamena could be just the job to turn the tide. Failing that, it will make great bedtime reading as well as an inspirational tool for young drama and history enthusiasts.
It's a gripping story focusing on the mining boom that left its scars on the South East Cornwall landscape in the 19th century, and how it affected one family in particular - the Cragos.
