One of my favourite things to do on a dark wild autumnal evening is to look back through the files of photographs which I've snapped while doing my newspaper walks during the past summer. The trouble is that time and again in the high-day-andholiday season of 2011 the weather was dull and rainy.

Never mind - the walks were all good ones, and I've just stumbled across a stroll I did one damp August day which I failed to turn into a newspaper column.
